Leave Home and Returned Harmed | Alana Saltz

I often dream cries for help.

Never does the world
hold my tired eyes open.

They would have to hear me.

There will be pain
thrown to the wolves

intrigued by the fear.

Promise me
something simple.

I have tried again.

(Erasure poem from The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer by Jennifer Lynch, Gallery Books: 2011, pp. 70-76.)
